Park Rules For Groups

We welcome you and your group to one of the most interesting and beautiful areas in California.  We are here to help you teach your students about this sensitive ecosystem and how we can all help to protect and preserve this valuable natural resource.  We have established a few rules that will reduce the impact of groups visiting this natural resource and habitat.  We appreciate your cooperation by carefully reviewing these rules with your entire group before the day of the scheduled program.

1.    Do not collect or remove anything, including animals, shells, rocks, plants or kelp, from Crystal Cove State Park.

2.    Never chase or pick up animals or pry them from the rocks.  If they are disturbed, it will make a difference in their struggle for survival in this harsh environment.

3.    Walk slowly and carefully.  Do not run or jump in the habitat or on the rocks.  Avoid injuring plants and animals.

4.    Wear appropriate clothing and shoes.  If your group is scheduled for backcountry hike, participants must wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes.

5.    Bring water if you are scheduled for a backcountry hike.  Remind students that they will be hiking for over two hours.  Water is imperative.

6.    Keep the backcountry and beach clean.  Pack out what you pack in, including sunflower seeds, wrappers, fruit and food.  Human food products are detrimental to the health and eating habits of wild animals and birds.
