Interpretive Programs offered at Crystal Cove State Park

School Visits

Nowhere do we see the love for the outdoors more clearly than in the eyes of children. It is our obligation therefore, to teach them how to protect and preserve our fragile environment. Crystal Cove State Park provides a perfect place for children to learn about their natural world. We are working to promote an understanding of nature and the bountiful resources found in "our own backyard."

"Parks as Classrooms" consists of 14 programs which are intended to enhance environmental studies and the particular resources of our area. Crystal Cove State Park is delighted to offer these educational opportunities. Please refer to the following program descriptions to determine which best suits your classroom needs.

Due to limited staff, we may not be able to accommodate your preferred date. When calling for a reservation please leave an alternate date so we may better serve you. The educational staff at Crystal Cove State Park looks forward to working with you and helping to promote a healthy appreciation of nature for your students.

Crystal Cove State Park is a protected isolated jewel surrounded by urban development. We offer 3 ½ miles of unencumbered coastline and 20 miles of backcountry trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Our programs are curriculum based drawing from the areas of Science, Ecology, History, Social Studies, and Physical Education.

The following is a general list of our most frequently requested programs.

*Marine Mammals
*Tidepools
*Critters of the Park
* Endangered Species
* Marine Debris and Recycling
* Adaptations
* Migration
