Crystal Cove State Park Needs You!

California State Parks needs your help to introduce this beautiful State Park to arriving visitors and to help them appreciate and learn about the many natural and historic resources available at Crystal Cove State Park.

Volunteers and docents are highly visible representatives and ambassadors for California State Parks.  Some of the volunteer duties will include assisting visitors, conducting interpretive hikes and programs, educating the public about resource protection and preservation, and encouraging compliance with park rules and regulations.   There are many opportunities for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers and docents.

There are four essential volunteer programs sponsored by the park.
1. Trained Docents lead hikes, walks, and talks including backcountry hikes, beach walks, tidepool talks, nature photo walks, and geology walks.

2. The shoreline of the Marine Life Refuge is patrolled by Tidepool Creature Teachers who offer educational information, assist park visitors in identifying intertidal organisms, and gently remind visitors how to preserve and protect this sensitive resource.

3. Volunteers staff the El Moro Visitor Center, the Historic District Visitor Center, and the Park Store.  They welcome the public, provide information about the park, and help interpret park features and exhibits to the public.

4. Mountain Bike trail assistants help patrol the backcountry, assist park visitors with information, and provide emergency bike repair.

Crystal Cove State Park also has a cooperating association that works to assist with interpretation and education within the park:

Crystal Cove Alliance  raises funds to improve and expand park programs specifically in the Historic District.

If you enjoy nature, if you enjoy people, if you enjoy helping people learn and have fun, if you enjoy getting away from the hustle and bustle of city life, you will enjoy volunteering at Crystal Cove State Park.
